Our Story

Our aim is to make high quality, absorbent and long lasting guinea pig fleece products such as beds, pee pads, tunnels and hides. While also making piggy parent products such as clothing, decorations, soft toys and more. So you can treat yourself as well as your guinea pigs at the same time.

In June 2020, we lost our first fur baby Toffee-Apple. He was such a lovely boy and he helped us cope with the world and reduced anxiety for his mum through his quirky ways. Toffee-Apple would always look out for his mum and as you can imagine she was especially devastated. She began to draw guinea pigs with her iPad to help her cope with the grief from the loss of such a special piggy.

We felt that it would be nice to share her creativity with the world, so Toffee Apple Studios was born in honour of his memory. Toffee Apple Studios started as a small stationary shop selling guinea pig themed greetings cards and it eventually expanded to other products such as clothing, plush piggies, decorations and more.

As guinea pig owners we found it was becoming increasingly difficult to find high quality, suitable and reusable products for piggies. We decided if we can't find them we will make them, with a sewing machine at the ready we researched extensively into the best materials for guinea pig comfort as well as highly absorbent materials to keep the piggies dry while using the products.

Our piggy herd became our 'guinea pigs' to test out the items we made and they were clearly pleased. Adding these items to our shop gave us a real boost and it wasn't long before our little sewing machine was becoming overwhelmed with the demand for beds and tunnels, so we had to invest in an industrial sewing machine so we could keep up with the demand and further improve the our product quality

So as well as selling comfort and enrichment items for guinea pigs we also like to show case our herd on social media with updates on them as well as cute pictures and videos.

Over the years care for guinea pigs has evolved, and unfortunately some places still rely on care guides written in the 1980s. Everything from cage sizes to diet and behaviour information has changed a lot since then but the biggest pet shops still use this outdated information to sell the pigs. So to combat this we use our social media platforms to share modern practices and our own unique tips to help you with keeping your guinea pigs healthy, safe and happy. Such as our video on how to make a simple nebulisation chamber from a pet carrier on our youtube channel.
